2B History

Since the beginning, the idea behind “2B” is to create the right supportive environment for our children and youth. We looked to the need for this because our generations are looking for the thing they want “2B”. 2B was founded in 2009 by Mr. Burhan AlMerdas and Mr. Maeen AlAghbari. They started looking for funds by proposing their idea to the private sectors in Yemen. The start was planned to be before the end of 2010. However, some obstacles emerged, and then the Arab Spring revolutions in 2011 followed. We were forced by the ongoing unrest in the country not to stop until things should calm down. So we decided to proceed with limited resources even though the main sponsors traveled out of the country. With individual efforts, we managed to team up with some unique experts who have voluntarily joined us to work on some supportive programs for children and youth.

The name of our NGO “To Be, Or Not To Be”

It was inspired from the opening phrase of a soliloquy spoken question by Prince Hamlet in the so-called "nunnery scene" of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. We have had chosen it because it’s interesting, memorable, and easy to say. Moreover, the phrase represents exactly what the message we need to deliver to our community and the world.

The message emphasize to build children with high moral personalities and empowering skills to influence their behavior and virtues that will result in building strong and capable communities, and to guide and advise youth while they are choosing their future goals. This will help them “2B” the qualified community members that will consequently create positive change in their community and the world.
